6 months.
3 to 21 eggs.
Plankton, small mollusks, crustaceans and insect larvae.
About 15 years.
It usually spends much of the day buried in the sandy bed at the bottom of rivers, mainly during the hottest hours. Its coloring allows it to camouflage itself perfectly, since it has a sandy color dotted with orange dots with a black edge.
Like all rays, the young are born from eggs, but the eggs hatch inside the mother, who gives birth to them alive after three months of gestation. The young reach sexual maturity when they reach 30 or 35 cm. diameter. As soon as they are born they feed on plankton, but as they grow they begin to eat small mollusks, crustaceans and larvae of aquatic insects. Some adult males are capable of eating catfish.
They hardly have any predators, except for large fish and alligators.
