muscicapidae
Passeriformes
Birds
From 12 to 14 days.
3 to 5 eggs.
Arthropods, worms and berries.
About 7 years.
Males are shiny black with a brown belly and white feathers on the rump and outer part of the tail. On the contrary, females are grayish-brown in color, smaller than males. Both sexes have a black beak and pink legs. Juveniles have a coloration similar to that of females, with their chest dotted with spots. Male and female take turns incubating the eggs until they hatch.
Their capture as cage birds brought the species close to extinction in some places. In Asia there is a strong problem with the capture of songbirds that is leading some species to extinction.
