Biology and Behavior

Its habitat is similar to that of the pink flamingo, but preferring very alkaline lakes. They are very social birds and live in large groups that can reach up to a million members. When they see that their food is scarce, they fly to another territory.

These birds are mostly diurnal and form large colonies to reproduce.

This is the smallest flamingo, but also the most numerous. They have a striking light pink color with a dark beak.
