This lizard lives in the cold, rainy forests of Southern China and Northern Vietnam, always close to streams and ponds with dense vegetation. With diurnal habits, it adapts easily to all types of terrain, since it is as good a climber as it is a swimmer. It feeds on invertebrates, mainly insects and snails, as well as tadpoles.
They are excellent climbers and swimmers, so if they feel in danger, they do not hesitate to jump into the water.
