They are animals with solitary habits. The males have territories divided into smaller territories in which the females live, delimited by the smell produced by their glands when they urinate and in addition, they defend the right to mate. Sometimes, it is possible to find a male living with a female and her offspring. Females are fertile between 3 and 5 years of age, and birth can occur at any time of the year. It is a stalking and ambush hunter, and its coloration allows it to go unnoticed. The black lines on its fur perfectly imitate the shadow of thin trunks and tall bushes. Poaching, the destruction of its habitat and the decrease in the number of prey seriously threaten the future of this subspecies. Unlike other feline species, they are not afraid of water, and are very good swimmers.
