Bioparc Fuengirola begins the school year with the launch of a revamped school program, designed to turn each visit into a transformative experience. After a year in which more than 25.000 students from across Andalusia discovered the park's tropical rainforests, the center reaffirms its role as a benchmark in environmental education and as an ally of schools in teaching values related to respect for and conservation of nature.
A learning experience beyond the classroom
School visits to Bioparc Fuengirola allow students to explore ecosystems in Madagascar, Equatorial Africa, Southeast Asia, the Indo-Pacific, and, as a new feature, Central and South America, recreated with a level of detail that transports visitors to their original habitats. This immersive experience transforms the excursion into a teaching tool that complements curricular content, fosters scientific curiosity, and awakens awareness of biodiversity.
The park's educational team has designed activities tailored to each stage, from preschool to high school, so that the little ones discover wildlife through play and excitement, while the older ones delve deeper into issues such as evolution, species adaptation, and the need to protect endangered ecosystems.
News for the 2025-2026 season
The new school year includes support materials for teachers and activities that reinforce active student participation. The goal is for each student to not only observe animals, but also reflect on their role as future agents of change in the conservation of the planet.
As a new development, the "Nature in the Classroom" project is being launched, an initiative that seeks to build a bridge between the classroom and Bioparc, becoming a complementary tool for teachers and students. In this first phase, focused solely on schools in Fuengirola, they propose installing small freshwater aquariums in the municipality's schools. Interested Fuengirola schools still have time to submit their applications to the Bioparc Fuengirola Education Department., who will select two centers. Throughout the course, students will care for and observe a real ecosystem featuring neocaridina shrimp, plants, and algae, turning the classroom into a living space for experimentation and learning.
"We want every child and young person who visits us to leave with a clear understanding: nature needs our commitment. The experiences at Bioparc have the power to sow seeds that germinate into respect and action," says the park's Education department.
A benchmark in Andalusia
The steady growth in school participation reflects schools' interest in pursuing innovative experiences in environmental education. With more than 25.000 students enrolled last year, Bioparc Fuengirola has established itself as a benchmark in Andalusia where learning and excitement go hand in hand.
Furthermore, the visits offer teachers an opportunity to develop cross-cutting values such as sustainability, cooperation, and environmental responsibility, in an environment that faithfully reproduces the habitats of some of the planet's most endangered species.
Bioparc Fuengirola is part of a new-generation park model whose mission is to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity through education, research, and participation in international conservation programs. Each school visit, therefore, is not only an educational resource but also a way to raise awareness among future generations about global environmental challenges.
