At a time when the relationship between people and nature is more important than ever, Bioparc Fuengirola presents “Origen”, a photography competition that invites you to stop, observe and rediscover the value of what is essential.
The initiative, framed within the celebration of the park's 25th anniversary, was born with a clear vocation: to highlight the perspective of those who visit Bioparc and its ability to generate connection, emotion and awareness.
Under the subtitle “Images that inspire, emotions that protect life,” the competition offers more than just a photography contest. It is conceived as a collective experience in which each image is a way of interpreting nature and, at the same time, an opportunity to protect it.
For 25 years, Bioparc Fuengirola has established itself as a place where nature is not only observed, but experienced. Its recreated habitats, its focus on conservation, and the close interaction with the wildlife have generated millions of unique moments for its visitors. Many of these moments have been captured in photographs: glances exchanged between species, unexpected behaviors, scenes that convey calm, strength, or fragility. “Origin” stems from this reality: from the idea that photography not only documents, but also transforms the way we understand the natural world.
A competition aimed at amateur, semi-professional and professional photographers who capture images that go beyond aesthetics
The competition seeks to gather images that transcend mere aesthetics. The goal is not only to find the best photograph, but also those that evoke emotion. The winning entry will be awarded a trip for two and will also have a direct impact on conservation: Bioparc Fuengirola will make a donation to the BIOPARC Foundation In the author's name, intended for a species protection project. In this way, the image ceases to be merely a representation and becomes action.
AN EXHIBITION AS A MEETING POINT
The 25 selected photographs will be part of an exhibition within the park, conceived as one of the cultural highlights of the 25th anniversary.
During the tour, visitors will not only observe the images, but will also be able to participate in the selection of the winning work, becoming part of a process that reinforces the collective nature of the project.
The name of the competition is no coincidence. “Origin” refers to that common starting point: the connection between people and nature. In a context marked by environmental challenges, this initiative proposes a pause. A moment to look at things differently.
Because protecting biodiversity often begins with something as simple as feeling excited.
The entry period will be open until May 31st. Those interested can consult the complete rules and all the information about the competition. here
